Summer Fun

The summer of 2009...Summer started in May for us. Mackensey completed her freshman year at Georgetown this year. I drove to Washington, DC, we packed up and made the trek home to Shrewsbury, Ma. In June I was able to spend 10 days in Tulare, Ca with my two granddaughters, Maddie and Baby Eva. July had Mackensey and I back to southern California to visit close friends and family. After a short break from traveling, Mackensey and I flew to Chicago to spend a week with the Chicago Carters in August. We ended our summer with a visit from Kaitlyn and a trip to Ogunquit, Maine. Here are some pictures that show highlights of our summer.

Twinkle, twinkle little star...

One thing we are discovering is that having an empty nest allows for more "room" in our lives.
There is time to do some of the things that were on the back burner or never made it to the burner when our home was alive with the sound and activity of children. One of those things that never made it, is learning to play a guitar. Crazy as it sounds, I have always wanted to be able to play a guitar and sing. Well...every Wednesday night from 7:00-9:00 starting September 23rd I will be doing just that...not exactly playing and singing but, taking guitar lessons. My goal is to play and sing "Twinkle, twinkle little star" to my granddaughters when they come to Nana's house at Christmas. I may know "Mary had a little lamb" too.

Life On Our Own

YES!!! The "senior" Carters have a blog! All of our children have been blogging for awhile and now it's our turn. This blog will serve as my (Jacque) attempt to fulfill one goal I have for 2009/2010; to become more computer savvy. Even though I will be the primary blogger, I will periodically force Clyde to blog as well.
I am already patting myself on the back for following the step-by-step instructions to set this up. No worries about me getting a big head because the next step will be downloading pictures...yikes!
